Historical Background:
Late April 1858, Eastern Washington Territory: On the trail of Yakima, Spokane, Palouse and Coeur d' Alene Indians during the Coeur d' Alene War. Friendly Nez Perce' Indian scouts pick up the trail along Palouse Creek, for Lieutenant Colonel Edward Steptoe's 1st Dragoon horse soldiers.
